Quick answer
Choose the Rincon 2P for solo or duo ultralight backpack hunts; choose the Selway 6P for group base camps or trips needing space for gear and people.
Why size matters for your backcountry hunt
The right tent size depends on how many people are in your group, how much gear you carry, and whether you’re moving camp daily or staying put. A 2-person tent saves weight and pack space for mobile hunts, while a 6-person tent offers room to spread out and wait out weather at a base camp.
Key differences at a glance
The Rincon 2P is a lightweight mountain tent with a single trekking pole pitch and a removable stove jack, designed for fast-and-light trips. The Selway 6P is a spacious 4-season base camp tent with a tall pitch, dual doors, and a built-in stove jack for hot tent compatibility.
Trade-offs between the Rincon 2P and Selway 6P
- Weight and packability: The Rincon 2P is significantly lighter and packs smaller, ideal for backpacking into remote areas. The Selway 6P is heavier and requires more pack space but offers room for multiple people and gear. If you hike miles each day, choose the Rincon 2P. If you set up a base camp and hunt from there, the Selway 6P works.
- Capacity and comfort: The Rincon 2P fits two people with minimal gear. The Selway 6P fits up to six people or a small group with all their equipment, plus allows standing room. For a solo or duo hunt, the Rincon 2P is enough. For a group of three or more, or if you want to spread out gear, the Selway 6P is better.
- Stove compatibility: Both tents have stove jacks, but the Rincon 2P's is removable, letting you save weight when you don't need a stove. The Selway 6P has a built-in stove jack for consistent hot tent use. If you often use a stove, the Selway 6P is more convenient. If you only occasionally use one, the Rincon 2P's removable jack is flexible.
